The Human Fossil Record:
A Digital Resource for Research and Education

This collection includes modern human teeth of unknown provenience from the Anthropology Department at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (Washington, DC, USA). They are likely historical in age from the 19th or 20th century. They were scanned in the Department of Human Evolution, Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany) between 2006 and 2007 in collaboration with Dr. David Hunt (curator: Smithsonian Institution). These are all either mandibular or maxillary molar teeth but their position in the molar row is not known with certainty as they do not derive from jaws. Please contact Prof. Matthew Skinner (matthew_skinner@eva.mpg.de) for further information.
